Five of Swords

Five of Swords — Bonnie’s Perspective

At this sobering time in the world at the moment it’s worth stopping to consider this perspective.

I perch upon the steel edge of conflict, my talons gripping a sword thrust into the earth. Around me, the strange ones scatter — some retreating in shame, others pretending indifference, while one lingers with a hollow victory shining in its alien eyes. Above us, the ship hovers, a reminder that there are always higher powers watching, unseen judges of the games we play.

I have learned this: to win is not always to triumph. The battlefield is littered with hollow blades — trophies of battles fought for pride, for dominance, for the fleeting satisfaction of being “right.” Yet what lingers in the air is not joy, but isolation. In victory, one may stand alone.

I ruffle my crest and let the swords glint in the ship’s light. The lesson is clear: choose your battles wisely. If your beak must pierce, let it be for truth, not for vanity. If your wings must rise, let them rise in integrity, not in conquest. For some arguments leave scars no flight can heal.

When you draw this card, ask yourself:

• What am I clinging to that costs me connection?

• Is this conflict worth the alienation it may bring?

• What would true victory look like — and does it require a fight at all?

The Five of Swords reminds you that wisdom is not in the strike, but in knowing when to soar away.
