Bonnie’s Notes from the Ice
“Ah, look at this sneaky fellow! The South Polar Skua thinks it’s being clever, caching away fish and krill like shiny treasures. But I’ve got sharp eyes—and I’ve spotted the stash. And look closer: those coins aren’t just scraps of food, they’re symbols of value, each one stamped with what the Skua most prizes.
Now, here’s the lesson. Holding too tightly to what we’ve gathered can make us fearful and possessive. This Skua guards its cache so fiercely that it forgets the flow of life: food is found, shared, lost, and found again. Energy, like the wind under my wings, is meant to move.
When you draw this card, ask yourself:
• Are you clutching too tightly to what you have?
• Are you afraid of loss, hoarding instead of trusting that more will come?
• Or perhaps, are you finally learning to protect and care for your resources wisely?
I’ll tell you this: there’s wisdom in saving for leaner times, but beware of becoming a prisoner to your own pile. A true treasure is not in what you hide away—it’s in the freedom to share, trust, and fly unburdened.”
